Just because the technology behind the ceiling fan is over 100 years old doesn’t mean your fan has to look like it came from the early 1900’s. Over the years designers have been taking more and more liberties with the look of the ceiling fan, while maintaining its functionality. If your home is more chic and modern than traditional you will want to look for a modern ceiling fan that fits into your home décor.
Doing a quick internet search for modern or contemporary ceiling fans can yield excellent results. There are actually entire companies out there dedicated to producing modern ceiling fans. The funky designs that come with modern fans aren’t all for aesthetics; some wild blade designs are even more effective at increasing airflow than those of traditional fans. Contoured, aerodynamic blades contribute to fantastic air circulation. So, if you are looking for a modern design also take into consideration whether or not that particular model is more or less effective at moving air.
The price tag that comes with these contemporary fans is much higher than that of traditional ceiling fans. While you may get some modern models for around 200 dollars, most cutting-edge, ultra-modern ceiling fans carry price tags of more than 500 dollars. Shopping online for modern ceiling fans you will find a greater selection than at a ceiling fan retail store, which will carry everything from traditional to flush mount styles.
Before buying a modern ceiling fan, consider the size of the room, which will dictate what size blade you should buy, the height of the room, the color-scheme and your budget. Do you want to control your fan from a switch, a pull chain or a remote control? Do you plan on using the fan in the summer to increase cool air flow and in the winter to pull down hot air? If so, make sure the fan has the ability to switch directions and that any special contour of the blades will not change the fan’s functionality.
Modern ceiling fans are not only functional, they can be a nice complement to a perfectly decorated room. Modern designs may cost more, but they also can be more effective and add more to a room than a traditional ceiling fan.
