Bathroom Fans – Clean The Air And Eliminate Odors By Sharon Mcneece
Exhaust fans are commonly installed in bathrooms to help remove bothersome odors and humidity. These bathroom fans are a great addition to your home since they help improve the air quality inside your house. There are two major types of bathroom fans available. To find a good price on the fan you want, compare prices and choose the best deal.
Blower and impeller fans are the two types of bathroom fans most commonly found. The former are the more efficient of the two options. They are shaped somewhat like a hamster ball and have earned themselves the colorful nickname “squirrel cages”. Your bathroom fan should lead to a duct that shoots air out of an exhaust hood. Some new homes have central exhaust systems that connect several exhaust fans throughout the home.
If you already have a bathroom fan, you should consider updating to a newer fan. That is because new designs are quieter, more efficient, and use less electricity than older ones. When shopping for a fan, try to get one that has a sound rating of 0.5 sones or less. You want it to consume roughly 20 watts of energy. This is a huge improvement over old fans that were rated at 4 sones and used 80 watts to run.
Most bathroom fans are switched on automatically when the light switch in the room is turned on. This is not always ideal, however, since odors may need to be removed even after the bathroom light has been turned off. You may opt to set a different switch or a timer for the fan. A timer is the best choice, since you do not have to worry about forgetting to turn off the fan and wasting electricity.
Most basic bathroom fans cost less than $100. Larger bathrooms that contain spa tubs may need a larger fan. They can run as much as $250, depending on the model. Shopping for fans online will allow you to compare prices, but do not forget to check out prices of local retailers as well.
